In our Junior year of Drafting, we were tasked with the job of re-designing the Jacksonville Landing. My team and I went to downtown Jacksonville with our teacher and other groups, and we analyzed the current sight, documenting any pros and cons about the site. After documentation, we ruled out anything that would not work with the flow of Jacksonville. We also researched the history of Downtown Jax, and that is how we came up with our design. We kept the semi-circular shape witch represents the Native American culture but cut the building in half to open the Landing to Laura Street, we also decided on a pretty cool concept that the structures base would be heavily influenced by the old town feel of Jacksonville with many brick elements and rustic features, as the building progresses up, many glass features are introduced and basic concrete elements to represent the modern skyline of Downtown.
